After The Burial

It's been about 2 1/2 years since my last post. And as you would assume, my level of maturity (including musically) has grown a little. I've decided to try and begin posting here again. At least once a week, I'll be promoting unsigned bands and simply relaying some great bands alike.

Today I'm posting about the band After the Burial. I first heard them at a concert and have been hooked since. They are a pretty heavy band with lots of talent. Amazing guitar licks, bass bumping beats, and gut wrenching vocals combine for an amazing experience. So without wasting anymore time, here is After the Burial:

After the Burial - "Berzerker"

That is from their debut album, "Rareform" which is pretty old actually. Here is something newer, from their 2013 album "Wolves Within":

"A Wolf Amongst Ravens"

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy!

As Cities Burn

I feel like the start of every post is another excuse and apology for my absence, so I won't even bother this time. Though, that kind of counts in my book.

So, today, As Cities Burn. I like their style-kind of chill, but still hardcore-and it works. They're a Christian Hardcore band out of Louisiana that was formed in 2002. After a year or two of playing around and recording their first 2 EP's, they quit their day jobs and moved up in the world. Sadly, they've lost some of their original members, but the lineup currently includes: Cody Bonnette (vocals, guitar, keys), Colin Kimble (bass, back up vocals), Aaron Lunsford (drums), and Chris Lott (guitar, back up vocals).

With member changes, comes changes in music, and As Cities Burn is no different. Having a new lead vocalist can change a lot in a band and here, I'll post some examples. I prefer their old sound, but that's just my musical preference. And with that being said, here are some videos:

"Of Want and Misery: The Nothing That Kills" (pre-lineup change)

"Thus From My Lips, By Yours, My Sin Is Purged" (pre-lineup change)

"Errand Rum" (new)

While searching for info on this band, I found out that they are no longer a band and a couple of this band's members moved on to form Hawkboy. I haven't given that a listen yet, but I figured I'd throw that out there.

The Mars Volta

This band is a little different from my usual posts, but I think you guys will appreciate it! They're style is very unique, I have little else I can say about that. I've even heard a story of how their bass player became mentally unstable (went crazy, somehow) because of the music they wrote, but as far as I know, it's just a rumor.

The Mars Volta is a progressive rock band from El Paso, Texas. The band members include: Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (guitar), Cedric Bixler-Zavala (vocals), Juan Alderete (bass), Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez (synth, keys, percussion), Deantoni Parks (drums), and Lars Stalfors (sound manipulation, keys). They've gone through many member changes, but the vocalist and guitarist have been around since the original lineup. Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) even laid down some bass tracks for them at some point. They have somewhere around 8 albums released and....I'm done typing stuff, let's get to the good part!

"Televators"

"L'Via L'Viaquez"

"Inertiatic ESP"

"The Widow"

And a live version of "L'Via L'Viaquez"

That's all for now, I hope you enjoy.

Dead Throne

First of all, sorry for taking so long to post again, but I have some good news! After hurricane Irene, the power was out in most of my town. The day after, I attempted to buy a pack of cigarettes and lo and behold, the stores power was out and the store was closed therefore, I didn't get that one pack... I skipped smoking for a day and today marks day 5 of my attempt to quit smoking by accident. Today, I started feeling a deep depression and attributed my quitting smoking to that feeling and had a strong urge to buy a pack, but resisted! That's my story for now and I hope to keep it that way.

In other news...

The Devil Wears Prada is set to release their new album "Dead Throne" later this month, but we have a chance to listen to the entire album before it releases! All's you gotta do is (BAM!) click that.

If you don't like clicking things for some odd reason (and I don't know how you would get here without doing so), I'll post the singles they've released on YouTube so far....

"Born To Lose"

"R.I.T."

Enjoy, and you fuckers better Keep Rockin'!

Make Me Famous

Someone recently brought to my attention that my blog could use more organization. I thank you for the constructive criticism and took it into consideration. However, after thinking a bit, I realized that this blog, like me, is inconsistent (in what music I happen to hear on any given day). I figured out that I like it this way. I post some random band whenever I feel like posting it. That's how I discover music (at random) and I put it out there in the same manner.
So, to that reader, sorry...my blog probably won't be making any big changes. Constructive criticism is always accepted, by the way, to everyone else.

You've probably been wondering, "Make Me Famous? What kind of blog title is that?" Well, that's actually the name of the band. Make Me Famous is an unsigned band with member's from Ukraine and the US. Their singer, Denis Shaforostov, started out by posting vocal covers on YouTube. After much recognition and building a strong following, he decided to form a band. And Make Me Famous was born, including members: Denis Shaforostov (vocals/guitar/programming), Serj Kravchenko (vocals), Sergei Hohlov (bass/vocals), Igor (Jimmy Rose) Yastrebov (guitar), and Jace Thomas (drums). I didn't find a huge amount of info on this band, so let's get some music in this bitch!

"Once You Killed A Cow, You Gotta Make A Burger"

"Make It Precious"

"I Am A Traitor, No One Does Care (featuring vocals from Johnny Franck of Attack Attack!)"

And that's all I have for today's post, thanks!
