Enter Shikari

So, as I've been going on about for days now, I enjoyed Warped this Tuesday. Now, however, I'm suffering from my own stupidity, as I didn't want to wear sun screen. I just don't like the feeling... My face and scalp are peeling, which I've had happen maybe once before, but I've never peeled like this or seen anyone else do the same. All of the skin on my right cheek and nose got hard and is crusting off while the rest is peeling as normal burns go. I'm no expert on burn degree's, but something tells me if I'd stayed in the sun for maybe an hour longer, I might have some second degree burns. Again, I had an awesome time and it was worth it.

Enter Shikari, who played Warped this year but I missed them, is a British band that was formed in 2003. They were technically formed in 1999, under a different band name, but that's another story. Their 2007 debut album, Take The Skies, reached number 4 in the Official UK Album Chart and their second reached 16. Those are actually there only two full-lengths, though they've released a handful of EP's and singles.

Their band member's include: Roughton "Rou" Reynolds (lead vocals, synth, keys), Liam "Rory" Clewlow (guitar, vocals), Chris "Batty C" Batten (bass, vocals), and Rob Rolfe (drums).

This band is a little different than my usual style posts, but I like them. Now, check out some music!

The Next Day

As I previously mentioned, yesterday Warped Tour was in my area. It was the most fun I've had in a while, but now I'm sun burnt, my ears are ringing, and my neck, back, and legs are sore. If any of you get a chance to go to a Warped, I highly recommend it. This was my third year going and I plan on going next year. In my experience, every year is somehow better than the last.

This video was on the Warped Tour official website. I couldn't actually find myself in the massive crowd, but I was in that A Day to Remember crowd (front row!) at about 3:30 in the video.

This video picture is actually from A Day to Remember, haha.

Have a great day, and Keep Rockin'!

Emery and Google+

First of all, I'd like to announce that I've got my hand in on the Google+ project a couple weeks ago. After all the raving that people have been doing on this special little thing, I expected more out of it. However, I think I need more friends to be a part of it to get the full effect, so I won't be putting it down any more than that.. I like the idea of having separate "circles" to categorize friends/acquaintances/family members/etc., and especially that they never know which category you place them under. They see that you have added them, but not to which circle.

Also, if anybody wants to try it out for his or herself, I will gladly send invites, just leave a comment with your e-mail address. I don't know if it has to be a g-mail account or not. I haven't invited any non-google e-mail addresses yet.

So, now for the irregularly scheduled blog....
I've been a fan of Emery for a while now. I discovered them shortly after their signing with Tooth & Nail (or shortly before, I don't recall exactly). They've been letting out some less-than-great albums, but finally have released another good one! I don't feel like going deep into details, as I am lazy.

This first song is the first song off of their first full-length album, The Weak's End. If you're not too much into the screaming style, listen past the first 30 seconds or so. I really like this song.

Walls

The Ponytail Parades (also off of their first album)

Studying Politics (second album, The Question)

Cheval Glass (from their newest album, We Do What We Want. I like this one a lot)

Camisado

Ah shit, I have a 45 minute drive ahead of me and the weather's getting worse....

The only thing to make it better....MUSIC! Today's band is a local band out of Baltimore, MD. I got to go see them live recently and I'm surprised they haven't been signed to and major labels yet. They're a 6-piece hardcore band, members consist of Joe Deak (Vocals), Juan Zuluaga (Guitar), Quincy Jones (Drums), Louis Garcia (Guitar) Andrew Sheetz (Bass) and Nick Frymark (Keys).

This is a band I've been listening to quite a bit recently. SO check 'em out!

"Pulse"

"Deception Never Looked So Good Before"

"I'm A Dreamer, Not a Realist" (this is an older song)

Well, I hope you enjoy the tunes, I know I do.

YouTube to MP3

A couple months back I plugged a downloadable program that recorded sounds right off of your computer. I used it to record songs from YouTube or other sites. Sadly, the quality wasn't the best most of the time. I found a website that makes it much easier, much faster, and allows for better quality downloads. All you have to do is copy and paste the videos URL.

The Devil Wears Prada

So, I've been post-less for over a month now and that is a little more neglectful than I imagined I would be to this blog. I apologize to anyone who was actually a regular visitor and as I've promised before, I want to keep up appearances and keep this blog going. As of today, this is what I'm planning on doing.

For today's band, I decided to go with The Devil Wears Prada. Most of you have probably already heard (of) this band. Their members include: Chris Rubey (guitar), Mike Hranica (vocals), Andy Trick (bass), Daniel Williams (drums), James Baney (keys), and Jeremy DePoyster (guitar, vocals). They recently released an EP entirely about zombies and a little comic book series was made to go along with it. Speaking of which, they released Patterns of a Horizon in 2005, Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord in 2006, Plagues in 2007, In 2008 were featured on Punk Goes Crunk with possible the best song on the album, With Roots Above And Branches Below in 2009, the Zombie EP was released in 2010 and just recently they released a single: Born To Lose. Their sound changed slightly between albums, especially going on to With Roots Above and Branches Below.

Now to the music, I'm gonna list at least one song per album. And I want to say that with each album you'll notice they get even better!

"Swords, Dragons, and Diet Coke" from Patterns of a Horizon

"Texas Is South" from Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord

"Reptar, King of the Ozone" from Plagues

Hey John, What's Your Name Again?" from Plagues

"Big Wiggly Style" from With Roots Above and Branches Below

"Escape" from the Zombie EP

I hope you enjoy. This was like going through a 5 or 6 year time machine and listening to only one band the entire time. The good thing is I like the band enough to not mind that so much.

Keep Rockin'!
